Ron Paul running for President in 2012

He was instrumental in grassroots campaigning in 2008 when he ran for President and was able to encourage the support of a younger group of voters that were fed up with traditional Republicans and Democrats, as well as the “fantasy change” of Barack Obama.

His philosophy has largely been inspired by our nation’s founding fathers, and uses common sense and our Constitution as “the real road map” to get his message across. He’s called for abolishing the IRS, CIA and an out of control Federal Reserve. He speaks like an average American Joe and not some typical politician that speaks like a hawk.  Now, he is joining in a group of not-so appealing Republican contenders for the 2012 Presidential race.

He is Republican Congressman Ron Paul of Texas.

Congressman Paul, who is a physician and apparently understands basic economics, better than anyone else in Washington, D.C. had ran for President even before 2008. In 1988, he ran on the Libertarian ticket, and then in 2008, despite his unprecedented massive grassroots campaign, he only garnered about 10% of the vote in the Republican primaries.

But now that we have seen a train wreck under Obama, which includes a laundry list of extending some of the policies that made Bush very unpopular, massive spending, larger government, no transparency, unemployment, high inflation and three wars in the Middle East, Congressman Paul may have a better chance at getting elected this time around.

His message resonates with a younger crowd, especially for college students who want to grow up in the same America as our parents and grandparents did. As it looks right now, that type of America is more than likely gone forever. Despite that the older generation of America and the bureaucrats in Washington D.C. want the status quo; things in this country are not the same as they used to be and they will never be the same. But Congressman Paul has carried the goal for a long time now, to restore at least the real American values and principals that have been lost.

Having grown tired of Republicans and Democrats that have been ruining the country, it seems that a larger portion of Americans have awakened to the fact that you can have a President who is not going to sell their soul to corporate America and will abide by the U.S. Constitution.

Ron Paul certainly represents these qualities and perhaps “third time’s a charm” in 2012, will get Paul elected as President of the United States.

Wisconsin turns ugly

What a load of crap. Democrats in Wisconsin's State Senate, after hiding out for weeks in Illinois, magically decided to try and make it back to the Capitol in Madison before Republicans voted on the controversial bill to end union rights to workers. These Democrats, who all vowed to try and block the bill by running away from doing their fiduciary duty as elected officials, are now 'mad as hell" from the outcome.

The Democratic State Senators in Wisconsin have no right to be mad nor to voice any opposition on this, because had they actually did their jobs, perhaps they could have found some common ground by compromising with Republicans. Instead, they all ran away, like a bunch of rats.

Now that progress has actually been made in one State, it has turned ugly. After weeks of union protests at the Capitol in Wisconsin, several Republican Senators that voted for the bill, have received death threats. I wonder if MSNBC or NPR will report this? Remember, the Tea Parties are made up with a bunch of racists, but pro-union workers threatening law makers must be okay in the minds of the liberal controlled news media in this country.

Governor Scott Walker is going to sign the bill into law which would remove union rights and fill the budget deficit Wisconsin is facing. Unlike most of the pigs running our States into the ground, Governor Walker actually has real political courage by eliminating entitlements to public unions, while the rest of the Governors in this country continue to think that funding inflated pensions and benefits to public union workers is mandatory, even though just about every State is broke.

Finally, one person in politics actually gets it.

President Obama ready to sign tax cuts

In what became a massive bipartisan effort, the House of Representatives approved on a vote of 277-148, to extend the Bush tax cuts, and will be signed into law by President Obama.

Congressman Anthony Weiner, who vigorously opposed the compromise, said "Republicans are better poker players than Obama"

You recall that just about every single Democrat on Capitol Hill were whining, moaning and complaining that President Obama was a traitor to side with the Republicans compromise on extending the tax cuts for all families, renew unemployment benefits and another year cut to Social Security taxes. Like Congressman Weiner, just about every other Democrat from the Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to Barney Frank, wanted to see it fail, because they claimed it would only favor tax cuts to the most wealthy Americans.

But that wasn't the case, thankfully. The President and the majority of Congress saw that this would be the best interest in the American people.

Maybe the only smartest thing they've done all year.

Any future change when it comes to bias in the news media?

The bias in mainstream news and cable news is pretty extraordinary. If television news networks and newspapers had a balanced team of political contributors whether they are Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians or Independents, I think you would see a decline in people that are brainwashed and buy into this propaganda. Americans are finding that the more media operations that are promoting liberalism are failing. Whether its networks like MSNBC, or newspapers like The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times, they’re failing beyond disbelief.

I first began to notice bias in the news media in late 2008 when I started paying attention to politics and at the height of then candidate Barack Obama and all of his coverage before he was elected. I realized that was probably the cause of the bias. He was a Democrat, an African American, promising all of this 'change', and as a result, the news networks primarily being MSNBC and CNN, and CBS and ABC, felt inclined to give him all of the coverage they felt he deserved, and they were tired of President Bush. MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews once said that "I get this thrill up my leg" when he heard Obama speak, which I'm sure he regrets now that he's been mocked and spoofed ever since then; then you had Charles Gibson of ABC and Katie Couric of CBS try to railroad Sarah Palin, John McCain's then-Republican Vice Presidential candidate.

The one network that did not give extensive coverage to Barack Obama was Fox News. In fact, I don't think Fox News even did extensive coverage of John McCain. There is no question that Fox News leans right and promotes a more conservative platform, and while I do not always agree with Fox's "fair and balanced" motto, they do bring out the facts that need to be discussed whether its the financial problems, or how Americans think of certain legislative decisions in Congress, Fox usually discusses them.

After Obama was elected as President, I noticed a huge shift in the news media from leaning left, to leaning ultra left.

MSNBC went into overdrive. Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow began to promote this beyond awful liberal agenda, and never displayed any of the facts. For example, the Healthcare Bill. Did anyone on MSNBC even bother to read the bill and analyze the problems? Probably not. Instead, each of these commentators' platform has been anything that is left-leaning or promoted by President Obama, they will support, even if it causes dire consequences for the rest of the country. I will give credit to Chris Matthews in the sense that he does try to have cordial debates with Republicans and Democrats on his show, even though he is left-leaning in term of his final opinion. Keith Olbermann in particular, I am inclined to believe, along with most people, that he is terrified of Republicans. He is terrified of debates and differences in opinion, so instead, he has to resort to baseless attacks and smear anyone who disagrees with his opinion or the progressive-liberal agenda.

MSNBC also did quite a bit of exploitive coverage of criticizing the Tea-Parties across America in 2009. MSNBC commentators like Olbermann, or Matthews argued that it was not fair that people were criticizing President Obama after only three months in office for the financial meltdown and people getting taxed to death. It was all Bush’s fault.

Well of course Bush is to be blamed as is the Democratic controlled Congress. The real reason of the Tea-Party is that people are tired of the growth of our government. It has nothing to do with right wing extremism. People were getting angry in 2008 when President Bush and Congress bailed out Wall Street and the economy was collapsing, and then it continued to happen into President Obama’s first months in office: the Stimulus package (which failed) and bailing out General Motors. Yet, MSNBC covered the individuals at these Tea-Parties across the nation as condemning President Obama as a socialist and he’s made up to look like Adolph Hitler. True, many Tea-Party protestors had signs that described Obama like Hitler, but it was out of frustration and anger.

I seem to remember back in 2006, when left-wing liberals were protesting the War in Iraq, they had several signs depicting President Bush as Hitler… yet there was no extensive coverage in the mainstream news media at that time, nor any outcry from the opposition.

To hear someone like Keith Olbermann argue back in 2009 that it was not fair that President Obama was being criticized a few months into his presidency is hypocritical in itself. Olbermann also criticized President Bush for the 9/11 attacks, even though Bush had only been in office for less than a year. What's the difference? It should be noted that President Clinton actually admitted to Chris Wallace on Fox News that he failed to capture and kill Osama bin Laden.

Enough on MSNBC for a moment.

Now CNN is not as left-leaning as MSNBC. I used to think at one time that CNN was more neutral and had a balance of opinion. They have liberal commentators like Anderson Cooper or Larry King, and more conservative commentators like Lou Dobbs. But after Obama was elected, CNN seemingly not wanting to get into the middle of the competition between MSNBC and Fox News, decides to start promoting a “news” only agenda, and doing away with commentary. Lou Dobbs, for example, had been a crusader against illegal immigration, outspokenly critical of the Bush Administration and the Democratic controlled Congress. Yet when he continued his opinions, even when it came to Obama’s birth certificate and challenging the President on his economic policies, special interest groups start to pressure CNN to get him off the network… and that’s what happened.

Interestingly, after Dobbs resigned from CNN, all of their other longtime anchors started to leave every other month, because of the network’s failure in ratings: One by one, Erica Hill, Christiane Amanpour, Campbell Brown and the soon-to-retire Larry King all decided to leave the network, and CNN has not done much to improve itself as a news organization.

Now CNN certainly has some excellent world class journalists like Wolf Blitzer, John King and Candy Crowley, even though they are straight and neutral on the political issues. Probably the only commentator on CNN that a real hoot to listen to is Jack Cafferty. A shame he does not have enough time in his segment on The Situation Room to tell the American people how he really feels. While Cafferty was critical of the Bush Administration, he is the only one on CNN that has been very vocal in the last year with criticizing just about every decision that the Obama Administration has made. The emails he reads every day certainly reflects how the American people feel about our corrupt and failed government, and of this President.

One final note about CNN that I found irritating occurred recently. Its long time anchor Rick Sanchez, someone I really didn’t care too much for, was fired for making controversial remarks about Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart on a radio program. As a result, CNN terminated his employment with the network. Shortly after this, Joy Behar on The View said horrible and hateful comments about Nevada Senate Republican candidate Sharron Angle, calling her “a bitch… she’s going to hell”.

Tell me something, Joy Behar has a commentary broadcast on CNN’s sister network, HLN. So CNN exercises its right to fire Rick Sanchez, but refuses to do anything about Joy Behar? If that is not a form of bias in terms of ethical standards on the same network, I don’t know what is. In retrospect, I almost feel sorry for Sanchez.

Same thing happened with Juan Williams at NPR News. He contributes to Fox News and voiced his opinion on Muslims in airlines, and as a result, the liberalism in NPR News removes him.

As indicated before, there is no question that Fox News leans right, but as anyone can tell, it is the only news network that does. In a sense, they are in the minority, but Fox has the ratings. They virtually destroy MSNBC and CNN every hour on the hour, seven days a week. This is because people want to know about they’re government and how bad it really is out there, and Fox News delivers.

Glenn Beck is a great entertainer, and true, I don’t always agree with everything he focuses his attention on, however if you break apart some of the things he discusses on his program, it does make sense. I should point out that Beck has been the main commentator in the last year or so that has been attacked every day by left-fielders like Keith Olbermann, saying he is just a conspiracy theorist and promotes conservative bias. If there is one thing that Glenn Beck said that really stuck in my head, it was something he said back in 2007 while he still had his broadcast on Headline News. Beck was being critical of President Bush and said something to the effect that “he probably has the worst communication with the American people since James Buchanan”. It was at that point that I realized commentators that appear to be conservative, are indeed openly critical of both parties.

Yet, you will never hear Olbermann or anyone else on the left mention the fact that Beck was critical of the Bush Administration before he moved to Fox News.

Another interesting discussion Beck had on his old Headline News broadcast was with Lou Dobbs concerning the left’s attempt to stifle free speech on cable news and radio. As with the examples laid out above, whether it was Dobbs himself leaving CNN, or Sanchez, or whoever, the left is trying to do this. Then you have this radical left-wing media watchdog group, Media Matters for America that cuts bits and pieces of commentaries of anyone involved in the news that is not a liberal, and exploits them, but they never exploit any liberal that says hateful comments, like Joy Behar did.

They’ve tried for quite sometime now to get Beck removed from Fox News, but they’ve been unsuccessful…. Good!

But perhaps Fox News’ voice of reason is Bill O’Reilly. He tells it like it is, and usually has two sides to discuss the issues on his program, and this is the reason why O’Reilly has the top rated cable news program. If you tell it like it is, and it is a hot button issue that people can probably relate to and agree on, they’ll watch. O’Reilly is controversial sometimes on issues which makes it one more reason why people tune in.

Fox does have other commentators like Sean Hannity, a true-Reagan conservative, although I personally think a more fair and balanced program was Hannity and Colmes, before liberal commentator Alan Colmes decided to leave the show. Greta Van Susteren, John Stossell and Megyn Kelly also give thought provoking opinions on their respectable programs, without a political position.

Now that the Republicans have taken back control of the U.S. House of Representatives, are we going to see a future change when it comes to the news media?

Already, I’m seeing Bill O’Reilly change his stance slightly on Fox News, fairly analyzing the new GOP held house and they’re attempts in 2011 to work with the President. Keith Olbermann has even removed his Worst Person in the World segment on his program.

I think the bias in the news media, either through the cable news network platforms or newspapers and its relationship with politics in Washington D.C. has even more so, angered Americans. I think with this change of power, perhaps we will see a neutral position on both sides of politics, instead just favoring one party.

It is seemingly becoming apparent that liberals in this country see that progressive agenda is not going to work in this country and the message from the American people has hopefully been heard.

Is there really going to be any future change when it comes to the bias in the news media? I guess we’ll find out in the coming year. After all, how much worse can it get?

Election Results: Some good, some bad

There is absolutely no question that this was a difficult midterm election, and it appeared that Republicans took back the U.S. House of Representatives now holding 239, with 185 held by the Democrats. House Minority Leader John Boehner is anticipating taking over as Speaker of the House from Nancy Pelosi, and that is a blessing in disguise. Pelosi's position as Speaker has probably been more embarassing than some of the things Sarah Palin has said, and Democrats even said that if they were to continue to control of Congress, they would have replaced Pelosi as well. She was beyond awful.

It is pretty clear that Americans all across the country voted out some of the long time incumbents within the House, but that was not the case in the U.S. Senate with Democrats holding on 51 seats, compared to 46 seats held by Republicans. Some of the tea-party favorites such as Florida Republican Senate candidate Marco Rubio defeated his main opponent, Florida Governor Charlie Crist, who was running as an Independent. Rand Paul defeated Jack Conway by a landslide in Kentucky. Some of the others such as Christine O'Donnell, another tea-party favorite, pretty much cut her own throat, and was defeated by Democrat Chris Coons for the Delaware Senate.

In a surprising turn of events, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid came back and defeated tea-party favorite Sharron Angle for Nevada, at was seems to be virtually at the last minute. Other U.S. Senators that held their seats included Incumbent Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona, in a very disappointing election in California, voters decided to re-elect Incumbent Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer, who really needs to just retire.

Now that Republicans have taken control of the House, Americans are skeptical, but anticipating, that they will stop the bleeding spending on the federal level. Already, Speaker-elect, John Boehner has entertained the notion of repealing President Obama's controversial Healthcare Reform Bill, but if that is the case, President Obama could always veto the decision, unless Congress could overturn any veto by a 2/3 majority.
We'll see.

The truth of the matter is, while this midterm has certainly sent a message across the nation and to Washington concerning the nation's concern with massive spending and governmental control, there will also be a greater sense of divisiveness in terms of actually getting progress done through Congress. It is fair to say that the Republicans are going to try to cut the federal spending, which is in itself good, but I sincerely doubt there will be any "compromise" between the now Republican controlled House, with the Senate and President Obama.

The coming months all the way to the 2012 election, will display a very interesting slate of events.

First Post: Election 2010 Tomorrow: Vote them all out of office!

This is the first blog entry to Independent Word, a blog that I have created to discuss politics from someone like myself who has no affiliation with the Republican or Democratic parties.

I think it is painfully clear what has gone wrong in this country and why there are so many people upset. Since the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, the United States has been left in fear. The fear being that this al-Qaeda terrorist network will do anything to destroy our country and our freedom. I remember the events of that day, I was 15 and a Sophmore in high school, and after the tragic events, our country was for the first time in probably a very long time, united.

Today, that is not so much the case.

To be perfectly honest, I am a former Republican and supported President George W. Bush after the 9/11 attacks, and even supported our decision to go to War in Iraq, after Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction. Turns out that was not the case. What made it very unfortunate is that President Bush and his administration deceived and manipulated people within our government and the American people for the reason to go to war in the first place. It turns out Hussein did not have any weapons, and despite the fact that the world is safer without him in power, the country of Iraq is now riddled with anarchy and its newly formed Government unstable. Our troops have spent some eight years combating Hussein's crumbling reign, and for what really? To form a new government in Iraq.

I think President Bush should have remained focused on the decision he made right after the 9/11 attacks. A War on Terror, specifically our enemy, al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. They were responsible for the attacks, no matter how many of these liberal left-wingers out there will try to deceive you and say it was an inside job, they are the one's responsible and continue to pose a threat to the security of our nation. However President Bush focused his attention on Iraq in 2003, and while he may have firmly believed in the notion that the CIA indicated that Iraq had WMD, the American people seemed to forget that the enemy was al-Qaeda.

In 2004, I voted for President Bush again, and then the truth started to really come out, the real story of Iraq and our government was continuing to be mismanaged. In 2006, I decided to leave my respected Republican party and just become an Independent. Also that year, the Democrats took back control of Congress, and many people in America, fed up with President Bush, wanted the Democrats to bring change to the country, and possible impeach him.

That was not the case. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi motioned against any form of impeachment against President Bush. Well, if everyone really thought he lied and deceived the people, why didn't they just do it? Then economy started to go downhill, and Democratic controlled Congress were supporting affordable housing and the bubble was starting.

By 2008, it was impossible to control, and the economy collapsed. Congress and President Bush supported a $700 billion tax payer bailout of Wall-Street when all of the financial banking and insurance institutions started to go under: Goldman Sachs, Chase, AIG, Washington Mutual, etc. Then, the two government sponsored lending agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also experiencing the same slew of problems.

Congressman Barney Frank, a Democrat from Mass. and Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said in July of 2008 on CNBC that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were "fundamentally sound, and they are not in danger of going under. They're not the best investments these days from the long term standpoint, going back, but I think they're in good shape going forward. We're going to do some things that will improve them."

Well, two months later, both of the government sponsored lending agencies collapsed. Congressman Frank took virtually no responsibility for what should have been his duty to oversee those entities, and Wall-Street, and the Securities and Exchange Commission which regulates the business sector. He should have resigned.

Then, President Barack Obama was elected. He vowed to bring change to the United States. Get us out of Iraq, restore the economy, create jobs, fix the healthcare system and reform immigration. After nearly two years under President Obama's reigme, nothing has changed. The unemployment in this country is still at 10%, his recently signed Healthcare Law which everyone has to buy healthcare has demonstrated to be very unfavorable among a majority of Americans, the national debt is over $14 trillion and is wasting time and money on suing Arizona for their immigration law, which the Federal Government refuses to do anything about.

It is no wonder why President Obama's approval rating has dropped significantly, and continues to decline about every other week. The only reason why President Obama was elected was because I think a majority of Americans in my generation were brainwashed and manipulated by a man who vowed to bring change to this country, because younger people especially were tired of President Bush. Yet, nobody really knew that Obama was this side of a Socialist, and wants to create a new agenda for the United States that is simply not going to work. As for me? I voted for the Independent candidate Ralph Nader.

I would strongly recommend Obama Zombies by conservative author Jason Mattera, and it gives some good insight to younger voters out there that bought into all of this nonsense.

But all ready, some of the younger voters that helped put him into office, are starting to realize the truth about President Obama, the Democratic controlled Congress and even the Republicans.

The truth of the matter is that President Obama has not even made any effort at all to live up to his campaign promises of 'Change'. It's lies and garbage fed to you, by just about every single politician out there who will say one thing, and then flip it around and expose themselves to being 'bought' by the special interest groups and corporate America. You cannot believe either of these political parties any longer. If you want real 'Change', then start voting all of them out of office and what a message that would send to Washington D.C.? People are fed up with taxes, a mismanaged government and failure to be represented by the people who elect them to the office they hold, and then critics have the gall to say why are there Tea-Parties being held?

So to get back to the title of this post, I would strongly suggest every voter out there take a good look at their voting history for either party and think for a moment if anything is really going to change if you vote for the Republican or Democrat. Maybe it will, although I tend to try and say away from them.

The United States simply does not have the time, resources or will, necessary to continue to put up with this partisanship and to wait around forever to implement the necessary changes in time to prevent the country from going bankrupt. President Obama and Congress have insofar, demonstrated that they are completely ineffective, with poor communication with the American people.

Tomorrow should be a real day of 'Change' in what is going on in this country, and I hope it sends a strong message to Congress and President Obama as to why people everywhere are angry.
